Egg Laying

These are some of our turtles and tortoise who laid eggs. Usually if it's the first clutch the eggs wont be fertile or there will be very few fertile eggs. Our tortoises and turtles take anywhere from an hour to 5 hours making a nest and having the eggs. It all depends on the tortoise or turtle.

Below Hermann video covering up her nest:

4/23/08 Russian Laying Eggs

This is a florida box turtle having her eggs, she had a total of 5 eggs.
Here's a baby florida box turtle that came from the above female florida.
This is our 7" russian tortoise, who laid 2 eggs.

Below is a little baby russian tortoise hatching out about 2 months later.

Around 9pm this female 3-toed decided to start making a nest. Most of the box turtles prefer laying their eggs by this wall, which makes it really easy for me to spot them out.
This female 3-toed also decided to have her eggs at the same time as the above female. They were only a foot apart from each other.
I mark the turtle's nest with a paper flag pointing to it. This way if I have to leave the turtle and come back when she is all done I can find the nest to dig it up.
