RES Rescue

We belong to the Southern Califonia Turtle and Tortoise Club in Kern County. My family and I have helped out at red ear slider rescues in Bakersfield, in which the club adopts out baby RES turtles for a small adoption fee. Not only do the turtles get homes the money goes to the non profit organization to help the californian desert tortoises along with rescuing other turtles and tortoises.

I have had the privilege to host the first ever R.E.S rescue at the Palmdale Petsmart.
I was happy to say that in a weekend all turtles (about 80) were adopted out to new homes.  I also used my experiences with the rescue to do a Senior High School project, which my great mentor Kirk Muth (who also belongs to the Bakersfield Turtle and Tortoise Club) helped out so much. Kirk helps out a lot with the club, working on preserving the habitat and rescue of the California desert tortoise as well as many other unique projects. He has had a lot of experience with a variety of turtle and tortoise species and keeps on impressing me as the years go on since I've know him.
